Homework:

Complete all make up work

After nutrition, I walked into third period and quickly sat down in my seat. I then wrote down the agenda while listening to the take a minute video. It was just like every third period English class we've had this year, that was until I took a quick look at Marcus. I just sat there watching him while he attempted to sharpen his pencil for what seemed like forever. I don't think Marcus ever figured out how to properly sharpen his pencil. We then listened to Juan read his amazing blog, where he mentioned his very generous donation from Lucas that let him buy three whole tacos! Juan then told me and Giana to do rock paper scissors to see who would do the blog next. He also said that the winner would do the blog. Of course I won because I'm just always a winner.

After we finished correcting Juan's blog, we then transitioned into this week's quote and question. This week's quote was by Maya Angleou, and she said, "If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude." The class very quickly discussed what they thought this quote meant, and they did it so quickly to where I could barely catch up. We then moved onto the question of the week, which was "What is one thing you will take/leave behind?" Everyone discussed their answers, and when we were done writing, we moved onto the iReady diagnostic test. Then at the end of the class, someone pulled the fire alarm, and we all left to go to the field.

Week 18 quiz

Original oratories

HW: Complete all make-up work! Due Tuesday!

The class period started off to a normal start. I knew I hadn't written a blog yet so the chances of writing one grew each day. Leo went up to read Rin's blog after we took a minute and wrote down what rain meant. (recognize, allow, investigate, nurture.) As Leo finished, IIsac then began to beg on his knees for Leo to pick me. Isssac was practically hugging Leos legs for him to pick me, screaming crying and hitting the floor with his fists. and of course I was chosen because who couldn't resist saying no to Isasc.

Shout out to Lucas for supplying me with 100 pesos so I can go get tacos back at home. 😆💪

I packed my bag and went to the writers desk, beginning the week 18 quiz. After the short three question quiz Ms. Nakada then gave us an example of one of her oratories to motivate us to write. We discussed the truths of Ms. Nakada's oratory and her call to action. Soon after we began to finish our own oratories with about 20 minutes left in the class, many false bells rang, Like they were taunting me, making me think my time in this prison is over. Ethan walked over to me and asked to see my oratory for inspiration. Being the good friend that I am I showed Ethan my perfect oratory. After what felt like hours later, the real bell rang and my eyes lit up as it was 12:20 I was released early from my dark prison, I packed up and headed off not to fourth period but to lunch. (today is weird.)

Original oratories

Homework:

Complete iReady and original oratories

I walk into the classroom and find my way to my seat next to Pookie Bear #15; Leo. I sat down and wrote down the agenda, and I heard Pookie Bear #15 laugh nervously as they remember they had to read their blog. Pookie Bear #15 gets up in front of the class and reads their blog, simply titled "Leo's."  After Leo is done reading the blog, I got picked to do the next one. Before they started reading the blog, I asked Leo to pick me, but when I heard my name called I still got upsetti spaghetti.

As I started writing, a few more groups performed their poetry slam poems, and Ms. Nakada reads another original oratory. Milan wants to share something very important.

hey guys its Milan! Thou shall not lie!!!!!!!!

[redacted]

Thank you Milan for all that vital information.

After Ms. Nakada is done reading her oratory, she lets us have time to work on our own oratories. I have no idea what to write for mine and it's due tomorrow.

Since the oratories are the last thing on the agenda we get the rest of class to work on them. I still don't know what to write. Since I don't really know what to do I just listen to what everyone around me is saying. I hear Otem and Ethan talking and Otem, with his very beautiful melodious voice, starts singing. Ms. Nakada tells Sammy that not everyone is their opp. I agree, stop calling me your opp because I didn't tie your shoes for you Sammy. Ronan walks past me, muttering something about Deku.

Suddenly, the bell rings, interrupting Otem's marvelous serenade, and we all go to fourth period.

I feel like I should write more most of this is just Milan yapping.
Happy birthday, Isaac.

iReady for 40-45 minutes (Two Lessons)

The bell rings, and classmates innocently file into the classroom.  Eyes dart left and right, as students quietly take their seat.  I pull out my agenda, write it down, and pull out my list of suspects.  I study the page from top to bottom, making a note of everyone on it.  The main suspect is Charles, the butler.  This scandalous Frenchman has always had a bit of a rogue streak.  Vandalism, suspected gang activity and fourteen DUIs.  It's a wonder he even got the job.  There's also Ethan, the rambunctious son-in-law. A struggling, but recovering gambling addict.  As my eyes fall to the end of the page, I put my finger over one last suspect.  Lucas.  The wife, with multiple attempted murders, and an crippling addiction to Wordscapes, he's another well-known menace to society.  Linked to over 30 assassinations alone, but not enough evidence to convict him, he seemed suspicious enough to interrogate first.  I put my binder and comically large suitcase into my backpack, but before I can walk over to his table, Daniella chooses me to recite the blog.  "Curses!" I think to myself, accompanied by language that could get me deplatformed.  I drearily pull my backpack to my side, and walk over to the writers desk, and place myself on the plastic throne.

I begin thinking of topics to write, my mind racing furiously, when Ethan comes over to my desk to greet me.  He immediately lunges at me, and proceeds to AGGRESSIVELY HUG ME for the next two minutes.  Despite my desperate cries to get off me, he continued the embrace, taking an uncomfortable time to release his grip on me.  After contemplating creating a dent in his cranium with the chair next to me, I sit him down, and begin the questioning process.

"Now, I understand that you didn't have the greatest relationship with your father-in-law, Isaac.  You do know what happened to him, right?"

"rizz"

After deciding Ethan wasn't physically capable of the murder, due to his deteriorated mental state, caused by his gambling addiction, and a daily consumption of YouTube shorts ranging from 12 to 14 hours, I decided to start questioning the next suspect Lucas.  Before I could even get up to walk to his table, Otem, Isaac's brother sat down next to me. "I have a lead on the case, detective".  He handed me a briefcase.  "Don't let anyone see you with this".  "I open the case, to see its contents, which were multiple photos, apparently taken on a polaroid.  Mostly just photos of the crime scene, but one stood out.  I immediately knew who to interview next, he was easily found, as he'd just presented his poems to the class while I was interviewing Ethan  I tap his shoulder as he exits the stage.

"How can I help you?"

"Do you mind if I ask you a couple of questions related to the murder of your husband?"

"Of course"

"Can you explain this photo of you at the crime scene?" I respond, whipping the photo out of my pocket

"Is that your hampster?"

I check the photo

"Whoops" I put the photo back in my pocket, and pull out another
"I was simply checking his pulse!"
"With a knife in your hand?"
"I was just cooking dinner!"
"The knife is covered in a red liquid"
"I was making tomato soup"
"With a knife?"
"It's part of the recipe"
As I walk him into the police station, I see someone out of the corner of my eye.  Charles, behind bars.  "What are you doing here?"
"I got caught for killing Isaac"
"By who?"
"Rin"
"I thought I was the detective"
"You're supposed to write the blog"
"Oh"

(If the ending is really rushed it's because I ran out of time RINS DOING THE NEXT BLOG BY THE WAY)

-last week!

Today we walked into our 3rd period class and sat down in our seats as per usual. Then, we took out our binders and started writing our agenda for the day. During that, we took a "minute" about RAIN, short for; Recognize, Allow, Investigate and Nurture. It wasn't really a minute though since it was three minutes. Anyhow, Tali then came up and read her blog to the class. After she was done, she didn't know who to pick to do the next blog, at that moment I thought I was safe 'til Otem gave me silly looks and said I didn't get to do the blog yet. I ignored it, but unfortunately Tali then chose me. I was a bit agitated, but I sucked it up and went to the separate table and started working on my blog. We then transitioned to our Week 18 song. The song of the week was "Forever Young" by Alphaville. My personal favorite line was, "It's so hard to get old without a cause." After that, we then moved on to our poetry slam, one group got to present their poem. Although I forgot what their poem was. (Oops) After they were done with presenting their poem, the bell rang, and we went to our fourth period.

(This blog is terribly short)

Declan: Erm

Milan: What the sigma

Alex: I'm the alpha

- last week!

Today was like any other normal day. We came into class normally from a normal nutrition. I will not stand against any of these false allegations. In our take a minute we got to finally see Dora and we learned the RAIN process. When you have negative emotions, you should Recognize, Allow, Investigate, and Nurture them.

Noa read her very good blog and then picked me. I was okay with that because I wanted a chance to stand against these FALSE allegations. Also, Jessica, Emily, and Riley were all not here today, and Noa and Violette were boring me.

"UM, HELLO? I WAS BORING YOU?!" - Violette

We moved straight into the quote of the week, "Awards become corroded. Friends gather no dust." By Jesse Owens. We talked about how he made a very big statement by proving Hitler wrong at the Olympics. Charles shared that he thinks the quote meant that friends are more important than getting awards and don't get old. Alejandro agreed. Ms. Nakada then reminded us that the Eighth Grade Awards Ceremony is next week. She encouraged us to still be proud even if we don't get recognized. NO, ALEJANDRO, I DID NOT FALL DOWN THE STAIRS AGAIN!

We then moved on to the question of the week, What awards/accomplishments can you include on college/scholarship applications?  We talked about UCLA and the University of Oregon. We concluded that important factors include your GPA and class ranking, what AP courses you take, extra curriculars, and seals of bi-literacy. I am falling so far behind because people are talking way too fast and switching topics and it is very confusing I don't know what to write anymore! *crying emoji*.  Anyways we were also talking about volunteering, community service, internship, work experience, novelists, and seemingly most importantly, leadership and commitment. I and co-captain of Speech and Debate and I think that I am going to get into a great college! Also apparently we are supposed to create a 'Brag Sheet' google doc to use to apply for colleges. Noa was the stage manager in the drama show last year and I think she will get into a college.

We then had to clear our desks so we could do a gallery walk of our poetry collections and broadsides. I heard Charles going around begging for a marker like he keeps needing to borrow my pencils.

"I HATe YOU."

That was Charles, and, yes, Ms. Nakada, he did shrug me off when I asked him if you really wanted to see that.

I felt very left out from everything in my little corner on the side as everyone was re-reading their poetry collections. I finally got to catch up on writing the blog because it was taking forever. Okay, now I am bored again. I started listening into what Noa was saying. She was very not happy because of something Charles or Alejandro said. I could not tell. I got up to look at poetry collections.

Ms. Nakada told everyone to sit back down because they were being reckless with the artwork that people worked so hard on. She asked what people thought about others. I think everyone's was very good. I loved your broadside Rin! I was very pleasantly surprised with Marcus, Charles, and Isaac's collections. No offense. Or take offense. Ms. Nakada was very annoyed and disappointed in people's lack of respect for other people's work.

We were then supposed to start working on our Poetry Slam pieces. Ms. Nakada performed hers, which was about the plum things. Forgot what the poem was called. People kept coming up to me trying to make me feel bad for working alone, but I genuinely don't mind. I don't need others to block my shine. Yes I rhyme.

The bell rang, and class was over. Good bye.

HW: Enjoy your weekend!

The day started out normal which was nice for a change. We had AT, first period, and math. I got to English on the later side, but still managed to be on time. I turned to take out my poetry collection, but could not find it. Eventually I found it and reminded Jessica that it was her turn to read the blog and choose someone. She started reading, but realized that it was not her blog she was reading. After we got back on track, she finished reading and told Emily to choose someone. Which of course was me.

I took all my stuff and sat down at the lonely desk. Emily realized that now she has nobody to sit next to so HA. Ms. Nakada started reading her oratory from 2020. It was about how the classes endured constant change with zoom and online school. Ms. Nakada got interrupted by the loud speaker aggressively calling Zurie to the main office. Ms. Nakada started up again and finished her oratory. Everyone enjoyed it, and Ms. Nakada asked if Eli was okay.

After the speech was finished, we transitioned into taking our quiz. Omar and Riley came up to borrow a Chromebook and I tried to juggle having two Chromebooks out at the same time. Ms. Nakada warned us that there are no more makeups on quizzes and to try our best. After most people finished the quiz Ms. Nakada said we can work on our poetry things and she will print out the ones sent last minute... Charles.

It was silent wall everyone was working on the poetry, until the boys got called out for talking. Ms. Nakada asked Akira to go down to the printing room and get all the poems that were just printed. My broadside was coming undone so I glued it on the paper some more. Ms. Nakada complemented Declan's style that he used on Canva for it's easy printing. It took me three hours to figure out how to get my order right on Canva. It was horrible. Violette came up to my desk, but all she needed was a tissue and then she left. Ethan needed to throw away trash and said hi to me and Ms. Nakada asked Emily to collect all of the field trip slips for our field day to UCLA. I am excited for that and I convinced Alejandro to go into the pool. He hates the ocean and apparently the pool. [He doesn't.]

Tali came up to me and tried to correct my spelling mistakes, I have no idea how to spell oratory. Nothing really is going on cause everyone's working. I started walking around cause I was bored. Violette and Alejandro came up to the lonely desk and are looking over my shoulder and making fun of me. Violette took my poetry collection and hopefully is not ruining it. Emily is making weird faces at me. The class is talking and working. Tali says hi. And I know I am just rambling in this paragraph. Declan literally looks asleep when he comes up to the desk to staple is poetry collection.  Riley came up to the desk and we started talking. She says that she worked on her broadside for a while and then forgot it at home. Alejandro is hitting with the eraser repeatedly.

Emily and Violette are working on peoples poetry collection cutting and stapling them together. Isaac forgot his poetry things and is gonna turn it in late. Ms. Nakada told us about the poetry slam and started showing us examples. You should all learn from Isaac's mistakes and not assume things. We watched someone perform the poem "The Orange" and their interpretation "Enough." It was really good.

The bell rang, and Ms. Nakada collected are poetry booklets and broadsides. We packed up and left for fourth period!
