10year planning

go get the last English nominated paper

Homework

AR 100%

I wake up getting a call from the one an amazing Akira. She told me there one last mission left for me. One that means absolutely everything to me, you don't understand how long I have been waiting for this. The last English-nominated paper. ONE I DESERVED, but the only thing that makes it a mission is that the unreliable Violette wants it too. I tried convincing her but she held Devin hostage. Devin is still held hostage. The mission is on a 101 story building, the last level where the last English nominated paper. I drive over to Alex as soon as possible and to Akira, we need to be quick as possible. Soon drive over to the building, billboards with a zoomed in picture of Ms. Nakada, I'm guessing she was owns the building.

I drive around it getting an idea of where to get in, we could even make a plan to find a way in. The bodyguards look oddly familiar, Declan? Milan? oh I didn't even know they can even get a job, its okay. I throw 5 bars of snickers about 20 feet away from the main entrance and Declan and Milan run for it. Alex Akira and I find our way into the building. There is a loud speaker just repeating to the bodyguards, what's your 10 year planning looking like. 101 flights of stairs to climb, no I'm gonna take the elevator. I look for it and hear muffled speaking, sounds very very familiar. Devin? I open the door slowly, and Violette is in there, asking which story had the English nominated paper, Devin won't say anything, real one, Devin is no longer my opp, but Violette still is.

I climb the stairs, I open doors to check if there's an advantage, anything really, I open one door and its a class, a video. This is my class, Ms. Nakada in there too. They speak about there 10 year planning ideas, half that class wont get anywhere if Ms. Nakada encloses them in that horrid prison. Akira and Alex split up and Alex is currently with me, but Ms. Nakada spots us. She tries taking Alex and I but I dodged to my left running my face into glass, but gets a hold of Alex. She scolds Alex and says,

"READ THE BLOG, READ THE BLOG, READ IT!" The evil teacher yells and scolds at Alex.

What do I do...

"RUN GET THE NOMINATED PAPER GET OUT!!!" Alex says concerned slowly getting taken into the class, a real one. Thank you.

I walk down the ugly hallway, did it have to be painted a vomit green color, ew. Someone walks out of a room, blood dripping, they have a black eye who is this, Violette? They limp over to me, and pushes me down, please don't. They kick me over and I try to run, I can't I'm stuck here. Violette tries to hit me and a song starts playing,"Bizarre Love Triangle" by New Order. As the song starts playing Violette keeps trying to hit me, I'm literally innocent. The song just keeps going and she keeps tryna hit me and after a few kicks, punches, and pushes. The song stops playing.

I find a way out my nose is bleeding and Violette gave me a blackeye. Okay bro its not that deep. I run away and I hear a huge thud, Violette falls and twisted her ankle, nanabooboo. The 56th floor crumbles down with her. I run and run as the floor crumbles behind each running step. I soon drive to the edge and make it to the stairs, ughhhhhhh. I gotta go up the stairs. ew. I run up and up Alex gone, Akira disappeared and Devin being held hostage. I climb these stupid stairs finding my way up to 98th floor, I pass out on the 98th level. I wake up in a room, it's Ms. Nakada English class, I've been here before, I need to run. I have minutes left, wait I do? YES I DO! THERES A BOMB NEXT TO ME, one Ms. nakada planted, Violette works for Ms. Nakada? Soon after realizing I see Violette and Ms. Nakada standing next to each other. I check the door and its the 1253 room this has to be floor 101, THE ONE WITH THE ENGLISH-NOMINATED PAPER.  I can make a run and get out. one tiny tiny problem I'm tied around the chair with chains, whoops.

I hear the chains wrapped around my hands rattle, I'm not moving my hands, or am I.

"Shut up Akira and Alex are coming quickly, just stay still and I'll get you out." Devin whispers very quietly hiding behind the chair

Ms. Nakada doesn't notice because shes talking to my opp about the nominated paper.

"What?" I say to Devin I couldn't hear my bad.

Devin repeats and cuts the chains off I pretend to be chained still and Akira and Alex run to Nakada and try to get the paper. The paper falls and I run to it, it falls like a feather near the windows and I dive for it breaking the window, YIPPEE I GOT IT. but one problem, its not a big deal, I'm about a few thousand feet high, no parachute nada. I look down and see a bouncy house, yay I survived. I look up and see Ms. Nakada, Violette, Akira, Alex, and Devin all above me also. Violette finds a way to get to my air level and kicks me and somehow gets a hold of the paper. Ugh, Ms. Nakada tries to fight off Akira, Alex and Devin in the air but cannot. We fall all the way down on the trampoline and I fight Violette trying to get the paper still, my ribs are now broken, ankle probably messed up and body sore. I reach for the paper and Violette looks at the paper revealing the first letter, D, for who Devin? I'm not quite sure, I DESERVED THAT PAPER I CAN CHANGE MY NAME TO Dsammy. I SWEAR. Soon after it was revealed. D for Declan. DECLAN got the paper. okay. I punch Violette and she fights back and Ms. Nakada jumps Akira, Alex and Devin soon. I see them in prison where we are sentenced 35 years of prison.

Shakespeare 101

Homework

100% AR!

Today's third period started off with everyone sitting down and writing down the agenda of the day on their binder reminders. While everyone was writing down the agenda, take a minute was playing. While it was playing I was talking to Sammy, but then next thing I knew, Ms. Nakada was reading her blog. That is when I said to Sammy that I knew I was going to get chosen, but I still hoped that I wouldn't. I can't remember what happened after that but then we moved on to QQSL. Today's quote is by William Shakespeare, it is also in Twelfth Night . I don't remember what we talked about for the quote, but it's ok because then we moved on the question. Today's question is, where do you see yourself in ten years?

Once we talked about the question, I don't really know what was happening because I wasn't listening. All I knew is that there was a very odd show on the TV. While the show was playing I realized I was coming down with a cold, and I might not be able to go to third period tomorrow, bummer.

Once we finished the Shakespeare stuff, we moved on to our 10 year plan. While working on the ten year plan, we talked about budget. Which people wrote down housing but to be honest my biggest budget would be shopping. I love shopping. Also I won't need to purchase a home since my dad owns a house in Pittsburgh for me to live in when I am older. Then, we moved onto the budget for food. I love food, mostly strawberries but still. Then, the bell rang! Yipe! Bye bye

(I think I am coming down with a cough, it is so weird.)

I picked the alpha Sammy.

Week 19: Quiz
iReady EOY Diagnostic

HW: Enjoy the three-day weekend!

It was third period on this minimum day and as students filed into the room, Sammy insisted that no one was here. But people were here. I swear.

A few students mentioned awards night where lots of students were recognized for excellence in behavior, hard work and academic pursuits. It was a night to be proud of, for certain.

Then, Rami read the blog for Thursday and took the opportunity to make a case against Devin. There were lots of reasons. Then, because Alex wasn't here, Rami chose me.

We then moved on to the quiz, which I thought was quite easy, and I think everyone got an A.

Then, some students got started again on the iReady EOY Diagnostic. The rest of started a page of notes about Shakespeare, and there is already some hate for Willy Shakes because so many of these students have performed Shakespeare and are pretty much over it. Still, being able to read and understand Shakespeare is a good thing, so we will learn a little something about his/their work.

We started to get into the plot of Twelfth Night when the bell rang and Sammy rejoiced! It was time for nutrition. Hope everyone had a great three-day weekend.

Dear Declan,

At first, I didn't understand the class-wide hatred against you. I had faith, after all I had no scuffles involving you.

Now I understand the bitterness and spite regarding you.

I would've gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids.

(All of this might not have happened, I wasn't paying attention.)

The class starts discussing apocalypses, and love (?). After reading the lines "Reasons to Live Through the Apocalypse" by Nikita Gill, a few go to finish their diagnostics.

I honestly don't really know what to write about. The class is quiet and boring.

I wanna go home and play Project Sekai.

I know! I'll discuss my disputes with Devin!

A) They're tall. Too tall.

B) They're always taking my stuff. I've never done anything of the sort to them!

C) There WAS a rock in my path, I KNOW THERE WAS! I didn't trip on air!

D) They're too tall.

What letter comes after 'D' again?) They BULLY me. (/j)

The 6th letter of the alphabet) They don't like Gezard.

7) They're always either late or not here, leaving me lonely in homeroom.

H) Too much height (I will steal their legs).

J) They're a nerd.

K) They never read their messages then they complain that I sent them 99+ Tiktoks.

L) All of the above.

Curses be upon thee!

Week 19: Q.Q.S.L

iReady EOY Diagnostic

Homework:

Complete all make-up work!

As we all walked into our third period class, everyone sat down in their seats to write the agenda. As I walked up to my seat, I remembered that yesterday Giana was doing the blog, and I figured it was about time I was chosen. I had told her yesterday that she was free to choose me to write the next blog.

Ms. Nakada pulled up the Take A Minute video about balloons, emotions, and letting go of our emotions like balloons. When the video was over, Giana read her amazing blog and chose me. I walked up to the blogger desk and sat down.

As I we all transitioned into the Week 19: Q.Q.S.L., Ms. Nakada pulled up the song of the week. It was called "Everybody's Free(to wear sunscreen)" by Baz Luhrmann. As the song played, I realized that it wasn't like a normal song, where the singer is singing with music. There was music, but the singer wasn't singing, just talking in a normal pitch. When the song was over, we discussed what the song was about. Devin and someone else shared what they though(I didn't remember who else shared their idea:D). Devin said that the song was mostly about cherishing your youth and being in the present. Ms Nakada shared her favorite lyric, which was "Don't be reckless with other people's hearts. Don't put up with people who are reckless with yours."

After the song, we transitioned into finishing up the iReady EOY Diagnostic. The room was quiet aside from the constant clickety-clackietng from keyboards and random shuffling in the room.

Then, around 30 minutes later, the bell rang and we all headed off to fourth period.

The class walked into the room after nutrition. I sat down and wrote down the agenda for today. Then, then everyone got quiet as Ms. Nakada pulled up the "take a minute" video, which showed a lot of blue and orange balloons. After that, Zurie was called up to read her blog, but Marcus quickly interfered and offered to read the blog since her throat was hurting. As that was happening, I slowly packed up my things, knowing that I was going to get chosen to write the blog today. I made a fair deal with Zurie a few minutes earlier that if she chose me for the blog, I would give her absolutely nothing.

When I walk up to the lonely table in the front of the class, Ms. Nakada asks Marcus if he needs a tutorial on how to sharpen a pencil. Just before we start the iReady diagnostic,  the information about nobody in this class having a U was announced, which I think is very cool. I am very proud of you all. The class got quiet as they continued with the diagnostic for the rest of the period. 😲😲

A couple of minutes later, we are told to pack up our things. The bell rings and we head off to fourth period!

Homework:

Complete all make up work

After nutrition, I walked into third period and quickly sat down in my seat. I then wrote down the agenda while listening to the take a minute video. It was just like every third period English class we've had this year, that was until I took a quick look at Marcus. I just sat there watching him while he attempted to sharpen his pencil for what seemed like forever. I don't think Marcus ever figured out how to properly sharpen his pencil. We then listened to Juan read his amazing blog, where he mentioned his very generous donation from Lucas that let him buy three whole tacos! Juan then told me and Giana to do rock paper scissors to see who would do the blog next. He also said that the winner would do the blog. Of course I won because I'm just always a winner.

After we finished correcting Juan's blog, we then transitioned into this week's quote and question. This week's quote was by Maya Angleou, and she said, "If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude." The class very quickly discussed what they thought this quote meant, and they did it so quickly to where I could barely catch up. We then moved onto the question of the week, which was "What is one thing you will take/leave behind?" Everyone discussed their answers, and when we were done writing, we moved onto the iReady diagnostic test. Then, at the end of the class, someone pulled the fire alarm, and we all left to go to the field.

Week 18 quiz

Original oratories

HW: Complete all make-up work! Due Tuesday!

The class period started off to a normal start. I knew I hadn't written a blog yet so the chances of writing one grew each day. Leo went up to read Rin's blog after we took a minute and wrote down what rain meant: (recognize, allow, investigate, nurture.) As Leo finished, Isaac then began to beg on his knees for Leo to pick me. Isaac was practically hugging Leo's legs for him to pick me, screaming crying and hitting the floor with his fists. and of course I was chosen because who couldn't resist saying no to Isaac.

Shout out to Lucas for supplying me with 100 pesos so I can go get tacos back at home. 😆💪

I packed my bag and went to the writers desk, beginning the week 18 quiz. After the short three question quiz Ms. Nakada then gave us an example of one of her oratories to motivate us to write. We discussed the truths of Ms. Nakada's oratory and her call to action. Soon after we began to finish our own oratories with about 20 minutes left in the class, many false bells rang, Like they were taunting me, making me think my time in this prison is over. Ethan walked over to me and asked to see my oratory for inspiration. Being the good friend that I am I showed Ethan my perfect oratory. After what felt like hours later, the real bell rang and my eyes lit up as it was 12:20. I was released early from my dark prison. I packed up and headed off not to fourth period but to lunch. (today is weird.)

Complete iReady and original oratories

I walk into the classroom and find my way to my seat next to Pookie Bear #15; Leo. I sat down and wrote down the agenda, and I heard Pookie Bear #15 laugh nervously as they remember they had to read their blog. Pookie Bear #15 gets up in front of the class and reads their blog, simply titled "Leo's."  After Leo is done reading the blog, I got picked to do the next one. Before they started reading the blog, I asked Leo to pick me, but when I heard my name called I still got upsetti spaghetti.

As I started writing, a few more groups performed their poetry slam poems, and Ms. Nakada reads another original oratory. Milan wants to share something very important.

hey guys its Milan! Thou shall not lie!!!!!!!!

[redacted]

Thank you Milan for all that vital information.

After Ms. Nakada is done reading her oratory, she lets us have time to work on our own oratories. I have no idea what to write for mine and it's due tomorrow.

Since the oratories are the last thing on the agenda we get the rest of class to work on them. I still don't know what to write. Since I don't really know what to do I just listen to what everyone around me is saying. I hear Otem and Ethan talking and Otem, with his very beautiful melodious voice, starts singing. Ms. Nakada tells Sammy that not everyone is their opp. I agree, stop calling me your opp because I didn't tie your shoes for you Sammy. Ronan walks past me, muttering something about Deku.

Suddenly, the bell rings, interrupting Otem's marvelous serenade, and we all go to fourth period.

I feel like I should write more most of this is just Milan yapping.
Happy birthday, Isaac.

Preperation for Poetry Slam

iReady for 40-45 minutes (Two Lessons)

The bell rings, and classmates innocently file into the classroom.  Eyes dart left and right, as students quietly take their seat.  I pull out my agenda, write it down, and pull out my list of suspects.  I study the page from top to bottom, making a note of everyone on it.  The main suspect is Charles, the butler.  This scandalous Frenchman has always had a bit of a rogue streak.  Vandalism, suspected gang activity and fourteen DUIs.  It's a wonder he even got the job.  There's also Ethan, the rambunctious son-in-law. A struggling, but recovering gambling addict.  As my eyes fall to the end of the page, I put my finger over one last suspect.  Lucas.  The wife, with multiple attempted murders, and an crippling addiction to Wordscapes, he's another well-known menace to society.  Linked to over 30 assassinations alone, but not enough evidence to convict him, he seemed suspicious enough to interrogate first.  I put my binder and comically large suitcase into my backpack, but before I can walk over to his table, Daniella chooses me to recite the blog.  "Curses!" I think to myself, accompanied by language that could get me deplatformed.  I drearily pull my backpack to my side, and walk over to the writers desk, and place myself on the plastic throne.

I begin thinking of topics to write, my mind racing furiously, when Ethan comes over to my desk to greet me.  He immediately lunges at me, and proceeds to AGGRESSIVELY HUG ME for the next two minutes.  Despite my desperate cries to get off me, he continued the embrace, taking an uncomfortable time to release his grip on me.  After contemplating creating a dent in his cranium with the chair next to me, I sit him down, and begin the questioning process.

"Now, I understand that you didn't have the greatest relationship with your father-in-law, Isaac.  You do know what happened to him, right?"

"rizz"

After deciding Ethan wasn't physically capable of the murder, due to his deteriorated mental state, caused by his gambling addiction, and a daily consumption of YouTube shorts ranging from 12 to 14 hours, I decided to start questioning the next suspect Lucas.  Before I could even get up to walk to his table, Otem, Isaac's brother sat down next to me. "I have a lead on the case, detective".  He handed me a briefcase.  "Don't let anyone see you with this".  "I open the case, to see its contents, which were multiple photos, apparently taken on a polaroid.  Mostly just photos of the crime scene, but one stood out.  I immediately knew who to interview next, he was easily found, as he'd just presented his poems to the class while I was interviewing Ethan  I tap his shoulder as he exits the stage.

"How can I help you?"

"Do you mind if I ask you a couple of questions related to the murder of your husband?"

"Of course"

"Can you explain this photo of you at the crime scene?" I respond, whipping the photo out of my pocket

"Is that your hampster?"

I check the photo

"Whoops" I put the photo back in my pocket, and pull out another
"I was simply checking his pulse!"
"With a knife in your hand?"
"I was just cooking dinner!"
"The knife is covered in a red liquid"
"I was making tomato soup"
"With a knife?"
"It's part of the recipe"
As I walk him into the police station, I see someone out of the corner of my eye.  Charles, behind bars.  "What are you doing here?"
"I got caught for killing Isaac"
"By who?"
"Rin"
"I thought I was the detective"
"You're supposed to write the blog"
"Oh"

-last week!

Today we walked into our 3rd period class and sat down in our seats as per usual. Then, we took out our binders and started writing our agenda for the day. During that, we took a "minute" about RAIN, short for; Recognize, Allow, Investigate and Nurture. It wasn't really a minute though since it was three minutes. Anyhow, Tali then came up and read her blog to the class. After she was done, she didn't know who to pick to do the next blog, at that moment I thought I was safe 'til Otem gave me silly looks and said I didn't get to do the blog yet. I ignored it, but unfortunately Tali then chose me. I was a bit agitated, but I sucked it up and went to the separate table and started working on my blog. We then transitioned to our Week 18 song. The song of the week was "Forever Young" by Alphaville. My personal favorite line was, "It's so hard to get old without a cause." After that, we then moved on to our poetry slam, one group got to present their poem. Although I forgot what their poem was. (Oops) After they were done with presenting their poem, the bell rang, and we went to our fourth period.

- last week!

Today was like any other normal day. We came into class normally from a normal nutrition. I will not stand against any of these false allegations. In our take a minute we got to finally see Dora and we learned the RAIN process. When you have negative emotions, you should Recognize, Allow, Investigate, and Nurture them.

Noa read her very good blog and then picked me. I was okay with that because I wanted a chance to stand against these FALSE allegations. Also, Jessica, Emily, and Riley were all not here today, and Noa and Violette were boring me.

"UM, HELLO? I WAS BORING YOU?!" - Violette

We moved straight into the quote of the week, "Awards become corroded. Friends gather no dust." By Jesse Owens. We talked about how he made a very big statement by proving Hitler wrong at the Olympics. Charles shared that he thinks the quote meant that friends are more important than getting awards and don't get old. Alejandro agreed. Ms. Nakada then reminded us that the Eighth Grade Awards Ceremony is next week. She encouraged us to still be proud even if we don't get recognized. NO, ALEJANDRO, I DID NOT FALL DOWN THE STAIRS AGAIN!

We then moved on to the question of the week, What awards/accomplishments can you include on college/scholarship applications?  We talked about UCLA and the University of Oregon. We concluded that important factors include your GPA and class ranking, what AP courses you take, extra curriculars, and seals of bi-literacy. I am falling so far behind because people are talking way too fast and switching topics and it is very confusing I don't know what to write anymore! *crying emoji*.  Anyways we were also talking about volunteering, community service, internship, work experience, novelists, and seemingly most importantly, leadership and commitment. I and co-captain of Speech and Debate and I think that I am going to get into a great college! Also apparently we are supposed to create a 'Brag Sheet' google doc to use to apply for colleges. Noa was the stage manager in the drama show last year and I think she will get into a college.

We then had to clear our desks so we could do a gallery walk of our poetry collections and broadsides. I heard Charles going around begging for a marker like he keeps needing to borrow my pencils.

"I HATe YOU."

That was Charles, and, yes, Ms. Nakada, he did shrug me off when I asked him if you really wanted to see that.

I felt very left out from everything in my little corner on the side as everyone was re-reading their poetry collections. I finally got to catch up on writing the blog because it was taking forever. Okay, now I am bored again. I started listening into what Noa was saying. She was very not happy because of something Charles or Alejandro said. I could not tell. I got up to look at poetry collections.

Ms. Nakada told everyone to sit back down because they were being reckless with the artwork that people worked so hard on. She asked what people thought about others. I think everyone's was very good. I loved your broadside Rin! I was very pleasantly surprised with Marcus, Charles, and Isaac's collections. No offense. Or take offense. Ms. Nakada was very annoyed and disappointed in people's lack of respect for other people's work.

We were then supposed to start working on our Poetry Slam pieces. Ms. Nakada performed hers, which was about the plum things. Forgot what the poem was called. People kept coming up to me trying to make me feel bad for working alone, but I genuinely don't mind. I don't need others to block my shine. Yes I rhyme.

The bell rang, and class was over. Good bye.

HW: Enjoy your weekend!

The day started out normal which was nice for a change. We had AT, first period, and math. I got to English on the later side, but still managed to be on time. I turned to take out my poetry collection, but could not find it. Eventually I found it and reminded Jessica that it was her turn to read the blog and choose someone. She started reading, but realized that it was not her blog she was reading. After we got back on track, she finished reading and told Emily to choose someone. Which of course was me.

I took all my stuff and sat down at the lonely desk. Emily realized that now she has nobody to sit next to so HA. Ms. Nakada started reading her oratory from 2020. It was about how the classes endured constant change with zoom and online school. Ms. Nakada got interrupted by the loud speaker aggressively calling Zurie to the main office. Ms. Nakada started up again and finished her oratory. Everyone enjoyed it, and Ms. Nakada asked if Eli was okay.

After the speech was finished, we transitioned into taking our quiz. Omar and Riley came up to borrow a Chromebook and I tried to juggle having two Chromebooks out at the same time. Ms. Nakada warned us that there are no more makeups on quizzes and to try our best. After most people finished the quiz Ms. Nakada said we can work on our poetry things and she will print out the ones sent last minute... Charles.

It was silent wall everyone was working on the poetry, until the boys got called out for talking. Ms. Nakada asked Akira to go down to the printing room and get all the poems that were just printed. My broadside was coming undone so I glued it on the paper some more. Ms. Nakada complemented Declan's style that he used on Canva for it's easy printing. It took me three hours to figure out how to get my order right on Canva. It was horrible. Violette came up to my desk, but all she needed was a tissue and then she left. Ethan needed to throw away trash and said hi to me and Ms. Nakada asked Emily to collect all of the field trip slips for our field day to UCLA. I am excited for that and I convinced Alejandro to go into the pool. He hates the ocean and apparently the pool. [He doesn't.]

Tali came up to me and tried to correct my spelling mistakes, I have no idea how to spell oratory. Nothing really is going on cause everyone's working. I started walking around cause I was bored. Violette and Alejandro came up to the lonely desk and are looking over my shoulder and making fun of me. Violette took my poetry collection and hopefully is not ruining it. Emily is making weird faces at me. The class is talking and working. Tali says hi. And I know I am just rambling in this paragraph. Declan literally looks asleep when he comes up to the desk to staple is poetry collection.  Riley came up to the desk and we started talking. She says that she worked on her broadside for a while and then forgot it at home. Alejandro is hitting with the eraser repeatedly.

Emily and Violette are working on peoples poetry collection cutting and stapling them together. Isaac forgot his poetry things and is gonna turn it in late. Ms. Nakada told us about the poetry slam and started showing us examples. You should all learn from Isaac's mistakes and not assume things. We watched someone perform the poem "The Orange" and their interpretation "Enough." It was really good.

The bell rang, and Ms. Nakada collected are poetry booklets and broadsides. We packed up and left for fourth period!

Jessica's Fifth Blog

Agenda
- take a minute
- blog corrections
- original oratories
- NaPoWriMo submissions

HW: iReady 40-45 min. 2 lessons AR 100%

Today I walked in expecting nothing out of the ordinary. The day had felt really long so far because of testing, and it already felt like it was time for the day to be over. The class all sat down relatively quietly. Emily then went up to read the blog. I started feeling a sinking in my stomach as she continued to read aloud. I still held out hope but as suspected she chose me. Apparently, it was because I had punched her yesterday. I don't remember that happening, but anyway I walked up to start my blog and glared at Emily as she laughed. I got singled out by you and I will get you back Emily.

We went to our English notebooks to fill out page fifty-five with Original Oratories for culmination. We wrote about what needed to be included in it. We also talked about Sofia's one from last year and how good it was. Ms. Nakada then read us one she had written from 2019, and explained she was going to write one this year for us too.

The class was silent as she read, and the class clapped when it was over. It was really good! It was about standing up for what you believe in and about the teacher strike. She had a quote from To Kill A Mocking Bird which is the book I read for literature circles so I knew the quote and that was cool.

We then went on to talk about culmination for a little while before moving on. Everyone started working on their Broadsides and Poetry Collections as Ms. Nakada showed us hers.

After, everyone worked on their poems for a while Ms. Nakada told us to start packing up. Then the bell rand and it was off to fifth period (that's weird).

I walked into class, unpacked my bag and hoped that I wouldn't get picked for the blog. Adrian read his blog to this class and then asked whoever didn't do the blog yet to raise their hand. Sadly, Adrian chose me to do it today. I sat down at the separated desk and began to write. We talked about the UCLA field trip and how we are going to get Bay Cities for lunch. I love Bay Cities sandwiches, so I was very happy.

We don't have a song for this week so we went straight to the lines. We wrote down the lines for the week, "Let's Revive the Golden Rule" TED Talk by Karen Armstrong. Ms. Nakada explained how we were going to write Cornell notes. We listened to the TED Talk and paused to make sure everyone wrote the positive and negative versions of the golden rule. We discussed how everyone always want's to be right and prove their point, but if we can just be more compassionate to each other we will have a purpose and something worth passing down to generations. Ms. Nakada brought in the topic of global warming and how we get to see the blue sky, but in some places it isn't like that and the air is so bad that you can see the air your breathing. We moved on from our notes to questions and then wrote down our summary. The bell rang, and everyone packed up and left.

Adrian's Fifth Blog

 Agenda

- Take a minute

- Blog corrections

- Week 17 Q . Q . S . L

- NaPoWriMo Submissions

The day started off with our class walking in from nutrition. We remembered that we could pick our own seats today so we went to them. After we all sat down in our seats, we took out our agendas to right down the agenda. We finished writing down our agendas, and Alejandro came up to read his blog. He took so long to read his blog, but he eventually finished. Once he finished, he made me and Emily rock paper scissors for the blog. Unfortunately, my amazing skill on rock paper scissors backfired on me. Of course, I won, but that meant I had to write the blog. I was about to get my stuff and come up to the front, but Ronan tried to steal my aura. Although since he is a level one crook, he couldn't get it. I brought up my stuff and began to write my blog. Ms. Nakada then told us to get out our reading journals so we could write down this weeks Quote. The quote was "Nothing in the Golden Rule says that others will treat us as we have treated them. It only says we must treat others in a way that we would want to be treated." We then talked about Rosa Parks and more about what the quote meant.

Ms. Nakada then called Marcus a sigma because of his running day scores. After Ms. Nakada's brain-rot, we wrote down the question. The question was "What should you NOT learn about at school?" Riley said that we shouldn't learn any math after algebra one and Charles disagreed. It turned into a long talk about how a lot of majors require you to have been tough high level math. We then answered the question and put away our reading journals to do I ready.

"Hey this is Charles, I think Adrian is very nice, but he is really short even with this disability I think he is still able to reach for the sky, even if is really far away because of his height." Charles John Guy Renard

After Charles wrote that, he sniffed me and ran away.

"Be Like water" for testing.
----------------------------------------
Today, unlike any other day, is a testing day, which means everyone was relentlessly typing their minds away. If any portions of this blog seem like cut off ideas (After I proofread towards the end of class) Keep in mind we were testing for a good two hours.
-----------------------------------------
Today, we walked through the wooden frame that leads to this classroom. We write down our agendas, as per normal, then commence with today's events. Today is a testing day, and as we had written for a ridiculous amount of time, everyone was exhausted. (Especially after a VERY, VERY, intriguing lunch)

We all started, expecting to do the blog, but alas, young Eli is not currently here. (I can say this because I'm older than the majority of the class)  We started with the take a minute, another daily happening, and I started messing around with a little 3-D printed item I had. I put away my agenda and lo-and-behold, Charles decided to take a peek at the blog and read. I didn't pay much attention to the blog, a mistake on my part, and I took a look at the end of it. The usual "Happy birthday Isaac." You see, contrary to Eli's blog, I will not wish Isaac happy birthday, and I'll spell his name right. Charles looked at Adrian with a devious grin, he wanted to pick Adrian. I wasn't surprised. to my surprise though, he decided to ask if anyone else hadn't done the blog, he went through his close friends, of course, I, Alejandro, being one of them. I raised my hand to my buddy over there, and he made Adrian and I rock-paper-scissors to see who will do the blog. Being the nice person I am, I told Adrian to use scissors, and I will use rock. (I told him this because the winner does the blog.) We each did our respective hand motions, and I went up to do the blog, knowing very well that I will have to write this blog on top of testing.

My classmates had various conversations in class while I was typing my brain out trying to come up with an entertaining portion of the blog. (I hope that entertained you) I heard conversations including testing, and that we will no longer have to go through it. Afterwards, we read our poem to the day, "Learning to Love America" by Shirley Geok-Lin Lim. Quite a tongue twisting name eh? Shirley is a Chinese-American poet. The class discussed what this poem is about, somehow going into artichokes and how pretty certain vegetables are. I don't know how they got there, and I certainly don't have a single clue. I am genuinely bamboozled by this conversation. I see my friends from lonesome island over here. I wave to a couple, none wave back. Sad. I know. I'm on lonesome island through, not much I can do over here. They then get back on track with the blog, discussing certain portions of the poem: jet lag, conflict, and America. Jessica shares her ideas. She has a good idea of what the poem is about and I agree with most of it.

Charles, being the silly goose he is, started whispering my name and flexing, showing me something my eye wish it didn't see. It's ok though, we love Charles for who he is: the silliest of geese.

Going back to class, we talk about the amount of trash America produces, and we talk about China. (I haven't been to China, but I want to go there to see some of my family I haven't met) We talk about feeling American and being American, and the difference of being something and knowing you are that said something. Lucas ERUPTS into a fit of sneezes, each one getting progressively louder than the previous, over the laughing I hear Marcus laugh/screaming.

Whoops! I just realized I forgot to talk about one thing! The last time we had English was two days ago, because of the testing schedule. Hence, we ended up listening to the song of the week: "Born in the USA" by Bruce Springsteen.

We changed gears and went into poem writing. Ms. Nakada asked my fellow classmates if they had finished writing all 30 poems. My best buds Ethan, Marcus, and Charles, were all asked. Two of them had finished. Sadly, John Guy Renard had not finished. Now, I'm sad.

Now, we are currently heading into an area known as "NaPoWriMo Submissions." Charles announced that he wrote another poem! He needs one more. I know you can do it Charles! Ms. Nakada went into a deep explanation of the Submissions. Trying to jot everything down, I started thinking and creating my own version  of it in my mind, we'll see if I make my vision a reality.

Ms. Nakada started talking about making a picture of one of our poems. Tali whispered to me "Twee!" I guess Tali is drawing a little 'Twee.' Ms. Nakada wowed everyone using her booming voice with her artistic drawing for one of her poems.

Right then the bell rang, and everyone packed up. Then, we left.
