HW RJ 8.4 read/iReady/IXL for 20-30 minutes and record

Class started, and everyone wrote down the agenda. Those who had not already turned in their eighth grade dues or field trip slips went up to Ms. Nakada to turn them in. Being the responsible person that I am, mine had already been turned in long ago, so with my extra few minutes of free time, I wrote down everything I need to do for tomorrow's Speech and Debate tournament. I have to practice and make last minute changes to my Dramatic Interpretation monologue. I need to figure out what time my dad has to pick me up to drive me the TWO HOURS to San Gabriel.

After (most people) took a minute, Sammy read their blog, calling out many people, specifically Devin, who thought Sammy was a wet chihuahua. Since neither Jessica or Violette were here today, and I simply could not stand another minute of Charles and Marcus flirting, I begged Sammy to choose me for the blog. So, here I am. I feel slightly uncomfortable, as it is reader's workshop and except for a few people sniffling non-stop (CHARLES) and the pages of books being turned, the only noise to be heard is my clickity clacketing.

Ms. Nakada asked everyone to take out their English notebooks, and told us to write Graduation Requirements in the table of contents. I was trying to figure out why my page 43 was her 42, when she realized that she had accidentally forgotten to write Week 8: QQSL.

After she wrote that, we went over the graduation requirements. One requirement is that you cannot get more than two U's in Work Habits and Cooperation on the final Fall and Spring grades. You are not supposed to be absent for more than nine days a semester. I might have already broken that, considering I was out sick for a really long time. I would have been out for longer because of my stupid cough, but it was excused. To graduate you need to simply not get in trouble, and just be in uniform. You have to make sure to turn in all of your books to the library. Your parents must be involved in your education. If you think it is unfair you can't graduate, you can ask for an appeal. The amount of credits you need also is a factor. You need at least fifty credits in total. You get five credits per class at the end of each semester.

Ms. Nakada asked us all to get out our Chromebooks so she can show us how to see our past grades. We had to go to Parent Portal LAUSD and student sign in. Everyone checked their progress report, which was a big and confusing chart. Somehow something didn't work and so everyone closed their Chromebooks. But then Ms. Nakada did find a way to find it. I had given up at this point and just kept writing the blog.

I overheard Eli talking to Ms. Nakada about how they have been skipping their AT every morning because Ms. Farahmand wouldn't let them switch, and now Eli is nervous about not graduating.

Ethan came up to me and asked me "How's the blog. It's so fun to write the blog. It's like typing your little fingers away." First of all, do I have little fingers? Also, at least I don't have to hand write it, so my hand doesn't hurt. For Ms. Nakada's sake, I will share my opinion on the blog. I honestly genuinely don't care if I have to write the blog, and I don't mind it that much. The only time I am annoyed is if we have a lot of stuff to do in class that day.

"Write about me in the blog! Write about me in the blog!" said Noa. "Is that how you spell Ms. Farahmand? Does your face still hurt from when Ali punched you?" For the record, Ali did not punch me. He knocked into me very hard, and I am not okay. Also, I have absolutely no idea how to spell her name. Okay, class is over so buh bye. "DELETE THAT PART, TALI! I SWEAR TO GOD DELETE THAT!!" -Noa

HW
Reading Journal Read/ Iready/ Ixl for 20-30 minutes and record

We come into this really depressing class. I fear every single one of these children. I walk into it knowing that I will be chosen, and we all know who will be chosen after. We take our agendas out and listen to the somewhat relaxing meditation. Once Ethan finishes reading his blog, he chooses me, I walk up to the isolated table. It's very cold, lonely, and scary here. As I walk up to the table and write part of it, Charles decides to MOCK my height. I swear I'm 6'4 and seconds later Devin pats my head like if I was a wet scared chihuahua. It seems as the aggressive class can't go silent, I hear Alejandro whispering a bit too loudly, and Akira speaking and decides to mog me! Q!! We enter readers workshop and go silent for a few minutes. As I'm typing guess who I hear, DECLAN! His laugh was very loud, I keep hearing him over and over again, he is the loudest person here. Soon after Ms. Nakada tells us that some of us haven't turned in our trip slips. I wanted to type up and actual story blog but the day that I was supposed to be chosen, I wasn't here. I could've written about how I had to go through a dual with Declan, but I couldn't since I came in minutes after the blog, only Alex will know why I was late. Then I turn around to observe my abnormal, (in a nice way) class, Devin reassures me but Declan says,

"No worries you got this!" He proceeds to through up his anime signs, this is the reason I fear this class and this isn't the only time I saw Declan do this.

Then the very long readers workshop ends with Ms. Nakada's scarring voice, she passes out our line, "Ain't I a Woman?" By Sojourner Truth. The class becomes very dark and Ms. Nakada plays the lines for us. Right after the lines finish, there's this really awkward silence, but Ms. Nakada breaks it. We go over the lines and we talk about it and what it means. We thought it was about privileges and how privilege is both conversed in ways. We lines talk about stereotypical topics of being Black and a women, and how she was enslaved. It is spoken of how she was treated, and the education wise on why it is also stereotypical about how women are not as smart as men. Closer to the end of the lines she says that the show is ran by men and not women. We finish out lines and enjoy the poem we just read. Once again am I pat like a wet chihuahua, and get attacked by my literature circle! I feel sad being in this group, it also feels very crowded her all of a sudden. I feel very enclosed here! Also, Mr. Ezell makes his way in here. Anyways, I remember that yesterday I was on a call with Alex and Alex tells my brother Isaac that her mouse, Mousey, was in our toilet. Guess who went to check, my brother. It's okay he's only five but the bell rings. We are off to our math or science class. I swear Charles, Devin and Akira, I'm 6'4.

HW Read/iReady/IXL for 20-30 minutes & record!

I entered the class feeling bad for Otem. Earlier today Leo called Otem Beanie Baby. Otem hasn't spoken a word to Leo today. I sat down and wrote down the agenda. Otem, now happy once again, showed how he finally managed to sharpen his pencil properly. Leo came up and read his blog he wrote on Monday. He gave a quick disclaimer that he made fun of Otem's haircut a good amount in his blog. Otem's blog and Leo's blog were insanely covered in imaginative storys. I feel somewhat jealous as I cannot write anything close to what these guys do in the blog. After Leo wraps up his blog I completely did not expect Leo to choose me. As expected, Alejandro exclaims. While I pack up Ms. Nakada gives a lecture on "teasing/bullying" other classmates. Alejandro being Alejandro comments on my goofy jeans.

Ms. Nakada then talks about how some people, might be lying to their parents on having no homework, and doing the IXL. Ms. Nakada uses and example and tells the class how Adrian writes IXL on his reading journal and how when she checks the website, it proves he is doing IXL. Ms. Nakada reminds the class one how Trip Slips, Waivers, and class dues are due on Thursday. The class goes completely silent as we begin readers workshop. Even still Alejandro says something to me once again.

We begin our Song of the week which is, "*** Flawless" by Beyonce and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Ms. Nakada tells us how this song has a good amount of bad words, which she would skip. The song contains the B-word a ton. Beyonce sings about how she won't let her partner over shadow her because her husband is Jay-Z. They sing about the stereotypes expectant of women. The class discuss how some of these stereotypes apply to them or to people they know. I find the conversation very informational. I feel the end part is like somewhat Beyonce embracing herself for who she is. Beyonce somehow lost the competition. 😂 The class shares their favorite lines. The class is very studious.

I accidentally close my the tab and I think I lost all my progress. I opened history and thank goodness it saved. The bell abruptly rang, and everyone packed up and left. I was thinking of doing something like Otem and Leo, but I'm not on their level.

Homework

Read/iReady/IXL for 30 mins

It was a dark and stormy morning.  The class had just spent their homerooms and first periods getting their photos taken, so energy levels were comparatively low to other days, but we still managed to file into the classroom neatly.  Still, there was one part no one could tear their attention from, Otem's haircut.  Otem walked into the classroom with a haircut that might have been given by a beaver with rabies.  Thankfully, he had the foresight to cover this affront to all that is holy with a beanie, but the thinly veiled elephant in the room still found its place in the center of attention.  As I discussed the prospect of shaving it all off, Ms. Nakada told the class to shush their mush, as it was time to take a minute.  Afterwards, she briefly covered some upcoming deadlines, and we began readers workshop.

Ms. Nakada prompts the class to read the quote be Michelle Obama, "The measure of any society is how it treats its women and girls."  The class has a short discussion about women's rights, as well as the expectations society places on them.  Eventually, we start on the question, "How do you experience both privilege and oppression?  The class talks about how age race and gender can affect someone's experience in society, and we move onto

Suddenly, a blurry object flies through a window, sending shards of glass flying throughout the room.  Everyone looks around, especially Otem, who is alarmingly alert, eyes darting left and right.  Behind him, he hears a snap, and quickly turns.  A pen was crushed leaving an ink stain on the floor.  The blur flashes around the classroom, Lucas yells, "OW!".  He raises his left arm to reveal a bite-mark, two large teeth marks, with a bit of foam.  Otem's eyes widen, realising what's happening, and immediately covers the top of his head, but it's too late.  "THE BEAVER IS BACK!" Otem yells, ducking under a table.  A tuft of his hair falls to the floor in front of him.  Otem looks up, realizing more of his sparsely populated scalp has been shaved of its luscious hair.  Thankfully, Otem always has a weapon on him, and immediately pulls out the deadliest thing he owns, which will surely be confiscated by security once this encounter is over.  A plastic spork.  The blades are shaped like triangles, to ensure that the victim's would won't heal, also to make it easier to get that pesky fry that you can't just get normally.  He unsheathes his weapon, but Isaac intervenes.  "No Otem!  You can't do that to an innocent beaver!".  Otem disregards this, and starts wildly slashing, desperately clawing at an opening in the beaver's defenses.  The beaver was fast, dodging and weaving through Otem's attacks, but what the beaver didn't anticipate, was that Otem had a secret weapon.  A comicaly large brick.  Otem swipes his spork to the left, prompting the beaver to dodge to the right, but Otem pulled the brick out from behind his back and hucked it as hard as he could, directly into it's cranium.  At least, that's what he thought would happen, but every since Isaac became the animal-loving vegan we know and love, he's sincerely committed to saving all forms of life on this planet, he dove in front of the brick, absorbing the impact through his gut.  Even though the brick had missed, sending the concrete mold through his intestines, the beaver was cornered, and there was nothing he could do to stop what would happen next.  Otem drew his spork to his neck, and a startlingly loud snapping noise subsequently followed.  The beaver fell back, watching the now dismembered afro on his head fall onto the ground.  Otem had avenged his afro, and could now rest.  As he ascended towards the heavens, the class continued working in literature circles.  While Ronan discussed his love of Deku with Kingsley, the rest of the class descended further into their assigned reading.  Since Otem had already finished the book, I showed the blog so far to him, his response was, as expected, multiple threats to me and my family.  After trying to delete my blog (multiple times), and informing me of his distaste for me, the bell rang, and the class packed up to leave.

This is Leo Behar (Bee-harr, NOT bay-harr) signing off

Week 7: QQSL

HW: Read SLC letters to parents and return with a response

It was a dark and stormy night in the rural country area of Emerson County. And the window panes of the old house shuddered and shook. The old grandfather clock struck 1:00am. Through all the ruckus the inhabitant of the house slept soundly. Suddenly, a huge white light illuminated the inside of the house. The person stirred. The light kept getting brighter, and brighter until it seemed like the entire sun was going to swallow the humble abode. Alerted to this mounting danger, the homeowner finally woke and stared in awe at this strange sight.

"What is thi-?" Charles thought in his panicked mind. But he never finished because at that moment, a strange force levitated the small frenchman and carried him out of his home.

"NO! NOOOOOOO!!!!!" Charles screamed as he finally realized what was happening.

*5 hours later*

The sounds of emergency vehicles and a knock at the door woke Isaac up.

"Warg?!" Isaac mumbled groggily as he clambered out of his bed.

"Wakey Wakey!" A muffled voice spoke from behind the door of Isaac's apartment.

Isaac got dressed and opened the door to find Kingsley standing their, "Hurry up, Isaac. Something happened to old man Renard last night! This will make big headlines in the paper, maybe we can get there first before the taboilds!"

The pair of intripid journalists made their way to Kingsley's Rolls-Royce and headed out to Old Man Renard's mansion on the other side of town. When the two got there, they found the house roped off with police tape, and what looked like a whole squad of soliders outside. Kingsley got out of the car and ventured towards the nearest soldier to ask what was happening.

"Sorry," The solider whose name tag was labled 'Grosky' ordered, "No civilians beyond this point!"

"Can you at least tell us what happened?" Isaac, who had manged to get out of the car after a battle with his booster seat safety belt.

"The only thing we know so far was that, the incident probably occured at 1:00am, and Old Man Renard was doing 'Agenda Things' beforehand" Grosky responded.

While Isaac talked to the guard, Kingsley decided to snoop a little bit. Ducking under the caution tape and dogding the patrols of guards, Kingsley ventured into the house. The air was stale, but there was something off about it. Kingsley felt a trickle of sweat run down his neck, he could sense someone was nearby. Suddenly, shadow moved to his left, Kinglsey drew his plastic spork that he always packed just if moments like these happened.  Kingsley whipped around and sliced the air to the left of him. He felt his spork connect to something.

*Outside*

A scream echoed from inside the house as Isaac was talking to Grosky.

"What was that?" They both said at the same time.

Abruptly, Kingsley came boudning out of the house screaming and then suddenly collapsed at the front porch.

Grosky, Isaac, and a few other soilders rushed over to helped him up.

"It's no use," one of the solider's said, "He gone."

"Well what could have caused him to collapse?" Another one asked.

Isaac felt a cool breeze and a shadow floated over him. Isaac looked up to the sky, he felt the blood in his face drain away," Maybe it was that?" He stuttered.

Grosky looked up and immeadietly started yelling orders to his men.

"Call the President! Tell him it's a CODE RED! CODE RED!" Grosky Shouted.

*Washington D.C*

"Mr. President! We have a Code Red in Emerson County! Reports of fish creatures attcaking our forces!" a Secretary burst into the oval office.

"Well, we better send our best man then, send in the 'ShuGrenator'!" President Cardinez exclaimed.

*In Emerson County*

"We're getting overpowered!" Yelled Grosky as more and more White Fish People swarmed to their location.

Suddenly, a powerful streak flew past them, the ShuGrenator was here! Dodging the fish people's attacks the ShuGrenator landed knockout blows to the frontal lobe of the hideous creatures, but more were swarming him. What will happen? See in the next blog.

Juan's Fourth Blog

    Agenda

  • Take a minute
  • Blog corrections
  • readers/writers workshop
  • week 7 QQSL
  • SLC Letters

We started off the period doing an extremely short minute meditation, and then Adrian read his blog, talking about how Ronan loves Deku and hates lasagna. After Adrian finished his blog, he walked down the aisle and asked if Kingsley had done the blog. I'm pretty sure he said yes. Then, Adrian moved over to me for some reason and asked me if I had done the blog, which I had not. Adrian chose me. I was shocked but didn't argue and packed up.
Then, Ms. Nakada started to collect the different book project slips and Declan started to pass out his peta bread or whatever it was. I submitted my book project online at this point. The class spent a bit handing out edible book projects.
After a while of the book projects being passed out, we began QQSL and answered the question: "How should we celebrate Presidents Day?" We discussed this for a minute. We then moved onto our song of the week, "Freedom" by Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar. After discussing, the bell rang, and we packed up and went off to fourth period.

 Agenda:

- take a minute

- blog corrections

-readers/writers workshop

- week 7 Q, Q, S, L

- book projects

Home work

- make up reading journals

- book projects due tomorrow

We all walked into the class like it was a normal day. Marcus, Charles, and I were talking about how Ronan went as Deku two Halloweens in a row 🤯.I had already known that Deku was Ronan's favorite anime character because of the countless times he would face time me in his cosplay outfits. It was a bit wet and rainy outside so most of us come from Mr. Kamm's class. We all sat down in our seats and took out our agendas. I stood up from my seat and walked over to Zurie to ask for a pen. She gave me a pen, and I sat back down in my seat. I wrote down my agenda, and then shared the pen with Ronan.

Once the whole class finished writing down the agendas, Isaac came up to the front to read out his blog. Isaac decided that Otem should write in the blog also, so we got to read Otem's part too. After Isaac finished reading his blog, he decided that he would choose me. I had already known I was going to be chosen because Isaac has made it a tradition to pick me every single blog. I had already packed my things, so I was ready to come up. After I started to write the blog, Ms. Nakada explained the new eighth grade field trip. Once she was done explaining that, we transitioned into reader's workshop. We read for a little until the time was up. Then, we took out our english notebooks and flipped to a new page. We wrote the title "Week 7 quote question song lines." We wrote down the amazing quote by Ms. Katherine Johnson: "Take all the courses in your curriculum. Do the research. Ask questions. Be curious."  Ms. Nakada then instructed us to read the article that was at our table. The article was about all the presidents involved in slavery.

When the class all finished reading the article, we turned to our partners to discuss. We alternated between paragraphs until we were all finished.  After we finished discussing the article among our partners, we took turns sharing between the whole class. The bell then unexpectedly rang, and we where off to fourth period.

Isaac's Super Fantastic Amazing Spectacular 4th blog (Feat. MC Gregor)

 Agenda

-Take a Minute

-Blog-Corrections

-Reader's / Writer's Workshop

-Week 6 Quiz

-Literature Circles

Today's class started off just as any other. We all walked in, sat down, then took out our Binder Reminders. While everyone was writing the agenda down, Ms. Nakada played our take a minute. After the take a minute, Ms. Nakada read Alex's blog because Alex wasn't here. After she finished reading it, Sammy got to pick the next blogger. After I called Sammy a, "Vaper," she decided to choose me. When I was chosen, Adrian sadly said, "Noooo." After I sat down to write the blog, we started blog corrections. During blog corrections, Charles did something that Ms. Nakada didn't like, so he finished doing the blog corrections. After that, we started our reader's workshop. We also put out are binder reminders and reading journals for Ms. Nakada to check. While we where doing reader's workshop, Marcus and Charles multiple times broke the silence with their laughter.

After the long silence of reader's workshop, Ms. Nakada told us to take out our chromebooks for the week 6 quiz. We all went silent as the quiz began. Once we all finished the quiz, we moved into literature circle.

*Otem's Alternate ending: A gang of rabid chipmunks burst into the room and devoured Isaac's face, he screamed in sheer agony. However, mild-mannered Leo Martin Behar heroically dove towards Isaac and swatted the rabid chipmunks.

Isaac- Oh Leo, you're so handsome and cool!

Lucas- Yeah Leo, you're so handso-(Lucas gets crushed in a crowd of stampeding fans.)

The crowd then raised Leo on their shoulders and paraded him to the yard where they then built a huge altar to honor Leo.

However, across the ocean in the frozen wastelands of Siberia, all was not well. Deep underground in a nuclear bunker was a man sitting in a Lazy-Boy swivel chair, and scheming a nefarious plan.

"I shall get revenge on Leo!" Cackled Ethan McGougan, "The simple-minded nitwits at Emerson think I'm on a weeks long vacation to Asia, but they were wrong! I'm actually, planning to drop a comically over-sized brick on the administration building at Emerson!"

(Otem's note- I am not able to finish the story as Isaac is currently raging nad flipping out about my mad writing skills)

After Otem stole the computer from me, (very viciously I should add), and wrote an entire story, we continued literature circles. Everyone was deep in discussion about their books, except Otem. With only a couple minutes remaining, Ms. Nakada told everyone to pack up. The bell than rang and we all headed off to fourth period.

The next blog writer should already know who they are.

Homework

RJ 6.4 read or IXL or iReady for 20-30 min.

February 15th, 2024, today's third period started off slowly as everyone walked into the class room.  Everyone started to get in their seats and write down the agenda for today. While everyone was talking, Ms. Nakada spoke up, and said that she was disappointed today during our assembly because people kept talking and being loud. Everyone stopped talking except a few people. I could mostly only hear Lucas though.

Next thing I knew it, Milan was up at the front of the class reading the blog. Once I realized she was reading, I knew I needed to start packing up, as I knew she would be picking me for the blog. That is when Alejandro accused me for bribing Milan because Milan added that someone payed her to pick me. I did in fact say I would pay her money to pick me but I also never said in what currency. Once you are reading this Milan has got her 4 pesos. Just saying this so people know I didn't scam her.

Anyway, I grabbed my stuff and started moving it to the front of the class to write today's blog. Once I sat down Ms. Nakada and the class started to correct the blog when Ms. Nakada went over the sentence that said Declan chewed on his pen and said how it is a bad habit. When then Declan said that he doesn't but we all know he does, because there are literal bite marks on his pen.

After Ms. Nakada and the class finished correcting the blog, we moved on to reader's/writer's workshop. I don't know if it was just me but the reader's/writer's workshop went by very quick and next thing I knew it we were doing the literature circles. That's when Riley went up to sit with me since we are in a group together and said "your mom" out of literally no where. Riley was actually so real for that not going to lie.

After Riley said that, I went back to typing up the blog. Once I caught up to what we were doing Sammy came to me and asked me to include how much 4 pesos is in the United States, so I guess I will. Four pesos in the United States currently is only 36 cents. I honestly don't remember what happened after they asked me. I just knew that it was loud but then went really quiet really quickly. When out of no where Riley asked me to add a fat cat to my blog and as we search for the perfect one Riley got the hiccups out of no where. But, that's when the bell rang and off to fourth period everyone went. Also, I would just like to add that I have never read a blog before and probably never will.

P.S. it is very difficult to type with no thumb so please ignore all the typos. Also Sammy gets to pick the next person. 👍👍👍👍

Week 6: Q.Q.S.L

Literature circles

HW: RJ 6.3 Read or IXL or iReady for 20 - 30 minutes.

We walked into third period and sat down to write our agendas. People came in with a lot of candy because it's Valentine's Day, so Ms. Nakada had to tell them not to eat it. Then, Declan came up to read his blog and it was interesting... I do agree that Usher's Super Bowl halftime was a little underwhelming though. After Declan read his blog, he asked anyone who would choose Alex, and the class was silent so Declan picked me. I knew it was going to happen, but I thought someone would choose Alex. I was wrong.

After that, we moved onto reader's/writer's workshop and everyone started to read, the class was silent until I hear big duck loud stops on the ground, and I got scared but it was Lucas. Ms. Nakada handed us a Happy Valentine's Day paper with poems by Shakespeare, Nate Marshall and Langston Hughes, and gave us Hershey kisses! After someone randomly yells ¨HEY GIRL" in the halls and Sammy finally shows up. We started on our Q.Q.S.L and did our lines for the week which are the poems she handed us. After Ms. Nakada, Marcus & Charles read there poems we told Ms. Nakada what poems we like best. I like the last one. Then, we started our literature circles, and Kinglsey informed my of Declan's habit to chew on his pens, and Omar told me of his need of a haircut we got our books and met up with our groups.

¨Me, Milan, and Janeth are doing The Book Thief so WATCH OUT!¨ - Declan Lott at 11:47 am

 Agenda:

- take a minute

- blog corrections

- reader's/writer's workshop

- Week 6: QQSL

- literature circles

HW: Read or iReady or IXL for 20 -30 minutes.

We walked into third period class, and Marcus started to read his blog (it was very long). The one part that spoke to me was when he mentioned the 49ers at the Super Bowl (they should have won). Marcus finished up reading the blog, and it was time for who was going to get picked. Adrian and Ronan said to pick Isaac, and Marcus almost did. Then, Marcus' eyes went to Kingsley, and he was about to say 'Kingsley', but I stopped him. I said to pick Milan, and Milan said to pick me. And Marcus out of the blue, picked me.

We were handed three papers, all about us graduating and moving on to high school. We talked about the culmination, the dance with the 8th grade VIP section, and the trip to MB2 Raceway, and our Field Day Trip to UCLA. I am just excited for summer at this point. Ms. Nakada then told us to show the papers to our parents, and put our name on them.

We then moved on to the QQSL. The song of the week is, "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys, and I think she was good at the Super Bowl (better than Usher...). All of the QQSL of the week are about love, because it is the week of Valentines Day. I looked over and saw Milan singing to the song very enthusiastically. We then talked about what the song was about, which was how most people in life want money and fame, but the good people want true love. We then talked about the Super Bowl a bit more.

Next, we went to literature circles. Ms. Nakada went over the four roles the people in our group had to be. Time Keeper, Summarizer, Clarifier, and the Meaning Maker. We all went over who was in whose group. The bell rang, and we all headed to 4th period. Goodnight.

Literature Circles

HW: RJ 6.1 Read or iReady or IXL for 20 - 30 minutes.

I walked into Ms. Nakada's third period English class pretty happy, and even more happy as I found out I would be sitting next to my very good friend Charles Renard. Mr. Renard, in fact, was especially happy, more than I, as a very strong man, who goes by the name of Ronan, would have to read the blog. This, of course, would be on top of his mourning of losing to the Kansas City Chiefs once again in the Super Bowl. For now, the thirty year drought will continue on as Brockarious Purdy failed to be the savior for the 49ers, just like his predecessor Garappolo. And I must admit, although I did anticipate for the Chiefs to win, I was also disappointed by the very close, brutal outcome that came down to the final seconds. I am not a 49ers fan, but the Chiefs, the Taylor-Swift Chiefs, I despise. I am not at all pleased for the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl for the second consecutive year because they are starting to turn into the Tom Brady Patriots whom I deeply loathe. But that all changed as I was finishing up the agenda for today in my Binder Reminder, and as Ronan Schugren finished up reading his blog. I completely forgot that there was I chance that I would be chosen for the blog next. I tried to make it seem like I wanted to do the blog, since Charles was making it obvious that I didn't want to be picked, hoping that it would change Ronan's mind. But no, it sadly didn't work. Ronan's eyes filled with sorrow, hatred, and football darted towards my direction. So yeah, that's how I ended up being picked. And that's how I will do everything in my power, to rub it in Ronan's face that the Chiefs messed up the 49ers Super Bowl Agenda. It was the final play Mr. Schugren, your eyes were intently focused on the screen, and the Chiefs ran down the clock on a first and goal, refusing to call a timeout. His heart raced and then suddenly stopped as while the 49ers chased after Mahomes to prevent the pass attempt, they left a wide open, Mecole Hardman. HAHAHAHAAHA!! Feel the pain RONAN SCHUGREN. Relive the moment of your loss over and over. Anyways, Ms. Nakada corrected his blog and we moved on to the reader's workshop.

We then moved to our Q Q S L this week, and our quote is from the novel The Sun is Also a Star. The author also wrote Everything, Everything, a novel that me and Mr. Murphy adore. Noa gives us some background information about the book and Ms. Nakada dives into her own personal love story and her previous perspective on the concept of love. Meanwhile, Ronan is still quite distracted, drowned inside his five stages of grief, which catches Ms. Nakada's attention. Still can't accept the fact Schugren, but it's okay. I would give you a pat on the back if I could. People like Otem, Noa, and Rami share their thoughts about the quote. Otem lined up the quote with the 49ers experience, searching for that Super Bowl trophy that just isn't there. They trusted their journey, but in the end, was brought to a stop. Personally, I think what the YA author, Nicola Yoon, means is that it is a challenge to make yourself vulnerable when you form a deep connection with someone, and the hesitation to open yourself up like this. We got into a discussion about emotional manipulation, Rami talked about a movie about a stalker who was acting creepy towards this girl that ended up liking him, and then we talked about an actor on Black-ish (who shares the same name as me), who is still together with the girl he was with at Emerson. (W getting rizzy). So I think that this weeks Q Q S L theme is love. Sounds like it is. Like how Ronan LOVES the 49ers and his king, Brockarious Purdy. Couldn't get you a chip though. Ms. Nakada then told us how we would be making groups to read the same books together. We went through our book options, one of them being the Book Thief (the author shares the same name as me also), which is a beautiful and heartbreaking story set in WW2 narrated in the point of view of death. There was a non-fiction book as well as the coming of age story, Diary of a Young Girl, which was Anne Frank's diary, a novel on the Vietnam War, and another  non-fiction novel about the inequities in the judicial system Just Mercy, and To Kill a Mockingbird, about a young girl's father representing a black man accused of raping a white woman.

Ronan's Fourth Blog

 Agenda:

-Take a minute

-Blog corrections

-Reader's workshop

-Q.Q.S.L

-I.O. and B.A. essays

HW: RJ 5.3 Read or IXL, iReady for 20-30 minutes and record.

Today is a brisk, cold day. The entirety of nutrition, I was freezing. As I talked with some of my friends, Charles yelled my name. I turned around to see him smiling, evidently very happy. I was confused for a moment before he reminded me of what was today, the blog. Charles has a very strange obsession with making me do the blog, so since he was going to be able to pick the next blog writer, it was obviously going to be me.

The bell rang and we all made our way to third period English. The entire walk there, Charles was reminding me of what was going to happen. It was truly odd how happy he was. Ms. Nakada opened the door and we piled inside, Charles sitting in his seat smiling at me. Soon after that, Ms. Nakada called Charles up to read the blog, which he happily did. The blog consisted of him talking about his poor mood due to losing in Happy Ball. He kept on bringing me up and talking about me, apparently he'd been watching me so carefully he'd been keeping track of my smile, which is a little weird.  He'd gone over everything else that'd happened that day and proceeded to not once, not twice, but three times say he was going to pick me before the blog was even over. The blog wrapped up, and he was finally able to choose the next blog writer. I'd been hoping he'd have a change of heart, just maybe he'd choose Isaac, but nope, he chose ME.

For a moment I just sat there, the outside world made no noise. Then, Juan reminded me that I had to go and write the blog. I slowly brought my bag up to the table, putting everything back inside before marching off to the table where I'd write the blog. We first had readers workshop, which caused the entire room to go silent. Ms. Nakada made her way around the room, checking everyone's English notebooks to make sure we were on track for the week. Once that wrapped up, we read a poem, "I, Too" by Langston Hughes. The poem is about standing up for yourself, which we can see with the lines, "But I laugh, /And eat well, /And grow strong." and "Tomorrow, I'll be at the table/ when company comes. /Nobody'll dare say to me, /eat in the kitchen." We can see how at a point he agrees and goes to eat in the kitchen, but then tomorrow, he'll be at the table with everyone else.

Once we finished the poem, we moved onto the Inside Out and Back Again essays. Ms. Nakada said that if you already submitted without a bibliography, you could resubmit with one. The room was quiet for a long time, everyone doing their best to finish the essay and add the bibliography. Ms. Nakada asked how many people still needed time, and most of the class did. Once more the clicking and clacking of computers filled the room. The bell was going the ring soon, so Ms. Nakada allowed us to gather our things and pack up. Soon the bell rang, and we were off to fourth period.

Charles's Blog About the Schug

                Agenda

  • Take a Minute
  • Blog Corrections
  • Reader's Workshop
  • Week 5: Q Q S L
  • I. O. & B. A. Essays
HW: RJ 5.2 Read or IXL or iReady for 20 - 30 minutes.

Today the weather was very droopy and sad in my opinion. It was rainy and cold, but we all still had to come to school. When I got to my A.T class, I noticed everyone was out of energy, and seemed like they didn't want to be here. "It must of been the weather," I thought. I walked to my seat right next to where my good friend Ronan sits. When he arrived we talked for a bit and before we knew it, the class had already ended. The rest of the classes were very uneventful, with the only things that were different from any other day were, we played Happy Ball, I did not enjoy it, and I finished my math i-Ready.

Yesterday, Kingsley had been chosen to write the blog. When he finished his amazing blog, he told me and Isaac, I think it should be spelled Issac with two s's, and me to rock paper scissors to do the blog. There was someone in my mind that I wanted to pick, so I told Isaac play paper. When, "Shoot!" was called, Isaac played paper, and I played rock.

While writing the blog in my chair of choice, not despair this time, I notice the smile that usually on Ronan's face dissipate. I thought about why he was so sad, and the first idea that came to mind was that he wanted to get picked for the blog but he sadly wasn't. So that's why I am gonna I am gonna pick him for the blog.

As the day continued, we went to reader's workshop. After a little bit, Ms. Nakada had to leave the room to deal with another problem in a different room. Soon after she left the class burst out in conversation, there was so much laughing that I saw Ronan was finally able to smile again. I can't wait to see that smile again when I pick him.

Soon, Ms. Nakada came back and wasted no time starting the song. But before starting the song Ms. Nakada told us that is might be a little to dark for us. Everyone agreed that we were fine, so Ms. Nakada soon played the song, which was, "Strange Fruit" by Billie Holiday. I wasn't able to listen to the song because I was so locked in while writing the blog, but what I hear from what Ms. Nakada, it is a song about black families in the south being abused, lynched, and terrorized and being forced to flee their home. Ms. Nakada then told us a story about how Billie Holiday got arrested because she performed the song, and some people didn't like how it showed the truth.

Thanks to Ms. Nakada having to deal with the problem in the other room, we didn't have enough time to do much else. Soon the class ended after everyone trying to fit as much writing as the could in such a small time.

No matter what happens, Ronan will be the next blog writer.

Kingsley's Lowkey Exquisite Blog v. 4

 Agenda

Reader's Workshop

Week 5 Q-Q-S-L

I.O. & B.A. essays

HW: RJ 5.1 read of IXL or IReady for 20-30 minutes

The day started off as any other third period would. We walked in, got ourselves situated, and started to write down the agenda while Ms. Nakada played a guided meditation. After about a minute of meditation Alejandro came up to read his blog. In his blog he explained how he was going to pick Declan for the next one, but then I realized that Declan wasn't here which sparked my curiosity as to who he was going to pick. When I realized Declan wasn't here, I thought for a second that he might pick me but I brushed it off and hoped he didn't. Meanwhile  I had been thinking about all of this, Alejandro finished reading his blog and then said the sentence that I was praying he didn't....."I choose Kingsley for the next blog." I gave him a slight glance of disappointment and made the walk of shame to the computer to write the blog. We then corrected Alejandro's blog and went into Reader's Workshop.

After about 10 minutes, Ms. Nakada asked us to bring out our reading journal to work on Q-Q-S-L while the class was debating how many weeks there are left of school. The quote of the week we wrote down was, "Because being American is more than a pride we inherit- It's the past we step into, and now we repair it."-Amanda Gorman. We then talked about the meaning of the quote which I think it means that we need to learn from our ancestors and learn from them so we don't make the same mistakes again. Many people shared what they interpreted the quote as and then Ms. Nakada asked the Question of the week: Whose shoulders do you stand on? What do you stand for? While I was writing down the question of the week, Riley asked the questions, "Will we have a final exam Ms. Nakada?" Otem then has the "Bright Idea" to keep talking about it and fanning the flame.  I don't like the idea of a final exam. I think the last week of school we just don't do any work and like watch movies.

We then talked about how Luke Combs and Tracy Chapman performed "Fast Car" together and how Tracy Chapman hasn't performed "Fast Car" in 16 years. We then transitioned into writing our essays while some people wrote their bibliographies of they are done writing their novel. After about 20 minutes, the bell rang, and we headed to fourth period.

Week 4 Quiz

HW: It's Ground Hog Day!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today started out as any normal day would, or so I thought. I walked into class, very satisfied after math class, after getting a good score on our i-Ready math test. I took a seat next to Marcus, and class began. Akira went up to read her blog, talking about being a guy? I don't know anymore, it's confusing. After Akira finished reading, she looked around class wondering who to pick, knowing I had a good chance to sway Akira to not picking someone like Sammy, I yelled out, "Pick Eli!" I shouted it a few more times and eventually started copying Akira, and as she looked around she said in a louder more booming voice than Ms. Nakada, "I pick Alejandro." I jumped, surprised and a tad bit annoying that I was picked, after all, today I needed to finish up my I.O & B.A essay. As I walked up to this table of doom, i started writing as I very clearly heard a very booming voice, no, not Akira this time, start reading out the blog, looking vigorously at the blog, trying to deem any small little error as a mistake. As Ms. Nakada finished up with reading out the blog, not one, not two, but three people came up to me in the span of three minutes to taunt me about doing the blog, I won't say names but I'll call them, Noodle Arms, Google, and Wafer Lover, each one coming up individually and telling me, "Haha, you have to do the blog." Well, not in this exact wording, but similarly.

After writing out this portion of the blog, I head Ms. Nakada say, "Time to work on your essays students." And as everyone went to work on their essays, some more than others, the class became near silent with feet shuffli- WAIT! yet another person has come to interrupt me, we shall name him, Bus Boy, not very good names but they shall have to do for now. As everyone went into writing mode, I kept on typing, trying to finish this part of the blog up so I would have a little bit of time to revise my essay.

Break

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And I'm back, after working a little on my essay, and bit on another very important project, Ms. Nakada interrupted everyone's writing and editing, asking us how much time we needed for the quiz, many people said five, a few said one, and I said zero, having just finished the essay and being very proud of it. Ms. Nakada then warned us that four minutes is all the time that we would get, being that we still need to take the week four quiz. In the mean time, I decided to take a thought on who to choose or the blog, I could choose google or Noodle Arms, but they're good people and wouldn't choose who I have in mind. I want to choose someone that will indirectly choose who I would want to be picked, but I don't want to pick myself. For that, the best options would probably be Wafer lover, or Deequan. (My nickname for Declan) I'll probably choose one of them. Immediately after finishing this thought bubble, Ms. Nakada announced that we would be working on the second part of our essays: the bibliography. Everyone put away their Chromebooks and took out their English notebooks as instructed, and we carried on with today's lesson. We first started discussing the difference of .com's or .org's, and transitioned to what we should cite in your bibliography. As Ms. Nakada went through how to write a bibliography, we rushed through trying to manage to get to do the week four quiz. As the bell rung, we finished up the quiz people slowly leaving as I rushed to finish up the blog. After finishing, we all walked to fourth period.

On the rainy day that was Thursday, students trudged into our third period: English. Yesterday in class, Rami and Eli did their blog together since they were the last to write their third blog. I had a feeling Eli would pick me to be the writer today since yesterday I pointed at him, begging for him to be chosen. Rami and Eli were called up to read their journal of yesterday's class and since Eli didn't want to go up, Rami read it by themselves. As Rami neared the end of their blog, I began to fear Eli would immediately call on me next. NEVER, however, would I have expected Rami, one of my favorite friends, to pick me! It was all Eli's doing, I swear by it! Maybe it was because I made myself look like a guy during nutrition and disturbed him. Eli must've used his twisted dark magic to infiltrate Rami's mind into choosing me. I tried to play dumb, pointing and facing towards Giana. My act was put to an end when Rami made it clear that they chose me. I gathered my belongings and headed towards the front.

Soon after, we went into reader's workshop. Students fell silent as they began reading books of their choice. All that could be heard was the crisp turning of pages and my keyboard as I typed the first paragraph.

Reader's workshop passed at a speed that felt quicker than usual as Ms. Nakada told us to bring out our chromebooks. She shared her screen up front, reading an excerpt of her sample essay. She announced that the articles were in the front if we needed them for our essays. The class fell quiet once again as the students went into a deep state of writing. Our writing came to a quick pause since Ms. Nakada tells us to read our introduction and first body paragraph out loud to a partner. The sessions end quickly, with Ms. Nakada asking what we see that our partners do well. Some students such as Noa and Emily shared how their partner ties their sources together along with connecting it to their own thoughts.
Ms. Nakada then starts speaking about our conclusion paragraphs. She shares her example essay and explains how we can share our own opinions in our writing. We fall back into writing for the rest of the class period until Ms. Nakada says we can start packing up.

(Eli is just jealous I'm a better looking guy.)
